A “spectacular day” with a short but challenging stage that starts with the grids placed in Alghero in front of the marina and then continues into the inland mountains in beautiful and traffic-free areas to a race finale worthy of a Spring Classic in Belgium!
The arrival is in Ittiri, a town that “lives” cycling in a particular way and where in recent years competitions and cyclists are emerging imposing themselves on a national level.
At the end of the race the Ittiri community will offer all participants a “Malloreddus Party” held in honor of the members of the GiroSardegna!
Arrival and final party promise to be unforgettable! In the early afternoon, all the participants will cycle back to their hotels in a relaxed manner.
START – immediately in front of the port of Alghero two grids are formed which will then have two different departures (first the MedioGiro start and then the GranGiro).
In the grids, there are NO precedents and / or preferences (VIPs, Women and various privileges!): Those who enter the grid first place themselves in front and the others behind!
You leave the town of Alghero NOT in the race because the “zero kilometer” is placed in the beautiful SS292 which immediately begins to rise slightly and then propose the spectacular “Scala Piccada” (a series of uphill hairpin bends that show all the beauty of Alghero and its Gulf); the road then continues to rise until it reaches Villanova Monteleone (km 22) which shows the internal plateau of the island.
Cross the built-up area (ATTENTION: the road is downhill!) and continuing on the SS292 you reach Lago del Cuga and at the junction for Monte Minerva where the Feeding Station and the path division (km 31) are located.
The MedioGiro route continues on the SS292 and at the junction for Romana turn left and goes through the small town of Romana and from there, it continues up to the “ending with a surprise“: inside Ittiri the cyclists will cover the 800 meters of a paved road uphill (at the top the road is really steep!) then a short descent always paved and finally the driveway uphill on asphalt!
After the arrival there will be a “Malloreddus Party” that promises to be unforgettable and then, in the early afternoon by bike, relaxed and refreshed, cyclists will return to their hotels 25/35 km away essentially downhill.
